Oosterhout moves closer to opening first local hospice
The municipality of Oosterhout and Stichting Hospice Lievensbrug have signed a purchase agreement for land at Lievenshove, marking a significant step toward establishing the town's first hospice.
The planned facility will be a small-scale hospice featuring six beds, designed to provide personal and warm care for residents in the final stages of life within their own community. Currently, residents must rely on hospice services located outside of Oosterhout.
The municipality is supporting the project through an impulse subsidy to cover costs such as architectural fees and has provided a guarantee for the realization of the hospice. Stichting Hospice Lievensbrug is responsible for financing the construction and is actively seeking sponsors and volunteers. Before construction begins, a spatial planning procedure must be completed. The facility is expected to open in late 2028 or early 2029.
