The foundation ‘In te Domine speravi’ has opened a new facility in Opatija, Croatia, which includes the Memorial Center for Blessed Alojzije Stepinac. The center is housed in a renovated building that formerly served as the Opatija public scale.

During the opening ceremony, Rijeka Archbishop Mate Uzinić blessed a sculpture of Stepinac created by Tomislav Kršnjavog. The foundation aims to provide a ‘house of hope’ for families facing eviction and to support those in need, using the legacy of Stepinac as an inspiration for faith and service.

Discussions regarding the legacy of Stepinac continue in the region, with some commentators addressing the historical and religious tensions surrounding his beatification and the legal exoneration of his 1946 conviction by the Zagreb County Court.
