OPay marks eight years of financial services in Nigeria
Fintech company OPay is marking its eighth anniversary of operations in Nigeria. Since beginning its journey in 2018, the company has expanded its service offerings from basic digital payments and transfers to include merchant services, cards, savings, and security solutions.
OPay’s entry into the Nigerian market was established through the acquisition of Paycom, a Mobile Money Operator licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria. The company has since grown to hold a National Microfinance Bank licence. The firm stated that its mission remains focused on using technology to make financial services more accessible and inclusive for the Nigerian population, facilitating everyday tasks such as bill payments, airtime purchases, and data subscriptions.
