OPCO role in French apprenticeship contract financing
In France, the financing of apprenticeship contracts is managed by the relevant Operational Company for Employment (OPCO), which covers training costs through the training center (CFA) based on specific certification levels. The specific OPCO responsible is determined by the employer's primary activity and collective agreement, rather than the chosen training center.
Since January 1, 2020, these financing roles have been regulated by the Labor Code. For certifications at level 6 or higher, employer participation may apply. Additionally, as of September 1, 2025, funding levels in cases of branch deficiency will be integrated into the single framework of France compétences.
