Opel CEO announces all-electric Corsa launch for 2028
Opel CEO Florian Huettl has announced that the new all-electric Opel Corsa will be released in 2028, delaying its arrival from the previously expected 2027 window. The new model is intended to be a purely electric vehicle with an estimated price of approximately 25,000 euros.
As the company’s best-selling model and a popular small car in markets such as Germany and the United Kingdom, the Corsa is central to Opel’s strategy to establish electric mobility within the entry-level segment. Huettl noted that favorable conditions in Germany, including developing charging infrastructure and political support, are aiding EV adoption. He also observed that rising gasoline prices have increased consumer demand for electric alternatives.
Despite the focus on electrification, Opel has not set a definitive date for phasing out internal combustion engine vehicles.
