Opel introduces affordable Astra Start trim for European markets

Opel has launched the ‘Start’ trim for the Astra, a new entry-level configuration designed to lower the barrier to entry for the compact hatchback. In Germany, the petrol and diesel versions start at €31,890, while the electric Astra Electric Start begins at €36,490, representing price reductions of approximately €1,500 to €1,900 compared to previous entry models.

To achieve these lower prices, Opel has utilized more economical features such as steel wheels with hubcaps for the electric variant. However, the company has maintained several premium features as standard, including Intelli-Seats, automatic climate control, keyless engine starting, parking sensors, and a multimedia infotainment system. The trim also introduces a Denim Blue metallic paint finish as standard.

While the electric Start trim is available in certain European markets, the availability of specific powertrains varies by region. For instance, in Spain, the Start trim is currently limited to hybrid and diesel options, meaning the electric version is not yet available under this specific economic configuration.
