Opel to showcase automotive history at Automechanika 2026
Opel is preparing to showcase its extensive automotive history at Automechanika 2026 in Frankfurt. For the first time, Opel Classic will host its own pavilion, featuring vehicles spanning from 1899 to 2000. Notable exhibits include the Patentmotorwagen ‘System Lutzmann’, the first Opel manufactured in Rüsselsheim, as well as the legendary Opel GT and various racing models like the Calibra V6 4x4.
Additionally, the brand is marking the 60th anniversary of the Opel Rekord C. Launched in the summer of 1966, the Rekord C was a complete reinvention of the brand’s mid-range lineup. It was a pioneering model for its time, featuring advanced technical specifications such as a new chassis with improved suspension, double-circuit braking, and a sophisticated ventilation and heating system. The model was highly versatile, offered in various body styles including sedans, station wagons, and a fastback coupé.
