Opella presents scientific evidence on bacterial lysates
A 2026 study has demonstrated the beneficial effects of Pulmonarom bacterial lysates against influenza A viruses, specifically H1N1 and H3N2. The research, presented at a scientific meeting, indicates that these lysates promote immune responses related to the detection and defense against these viruses.
According to researchers Dr. Rosalino Vázquez López of Universidad Anáhuac and Dr. Sara Elva Espinosa Padilla of the Instituto Nacional de Pediatría, in vitro testing showed that exposing cells to the bacterial lysates resulted in the activation of dendritic cells, improved early recognition of viral signals, and the activation of antiviral defense mechanisms. Other observed effects included the modulation of inflammatory signals, preservation of immune cells, and a reduction in infectious viruses.
Dr. Vázquez López noted that dendritic cells are essential for detecting viral signals and communicating that information to the rest of the immune system, suggesting that the results point toward a modulation of innate immunity mechanisms.
