Opella study shows cough treatments impact overall patient well-being

A real-world observational study conducted by Opella, the manufacturer of Mucosolvan and Bisolvon, suggests that effective cough treatment should be evaluated by its impact on overall patient well-being rather than just symptomatic relief.

The study, performed in Italy with adult consumers treating acute chesty coughs, reported that patients experienced relief from the first dose, leading to improved daily functioning. Key findings included a clinically meaningful improvement in social engagement within 72 hours and significant improvements in sleep quality after 48 hours. Specifically, reports of difficulty falling asleep, staying asleep, and sleep-related tiredness dropped by 59%, 56%, and 55% respectively.
