Open Fiber showcases digital connectivity at Meeting di Rimini

At the Meeting di Rimini, Open Fiber highlighted the role of ultra-broadband infrastructure in driving digital inclusion and social connectivity. Fabrizio dell’Orefice, Open Fiber’s director of external relations, stated that the future city is built around people and their needs rather than just technology, emphasizing that fiber optics serve as a strategic tool to reduce distances between different regions.

Open Fiber reported that its ultra-broadband plan has completed 99.4% of the planned infrastructure for over 6,000 municipalities in white areas. Additionally, through the 'Piano Italia a 1 Giga' project, the company has connected over 2.4 million real estate units via FTTH and FWA, making services available in 2,280 municipalities as of June 2026.

To demonstrate the practical benefits of high-speed connectivity, Open Fiber presented the ‘Fiber Life Experience’ at the event. Developed in collaboration with the XR studio YouStart, this immersive experience uses Apple Vision Pro headsets to allow visitors to explore a virtual ‘home of the future.’ The simulation showcases how ultra-fast fiber enables smart working, home automation, telemedicine, and advanced digital security services in daily life.
