Open Fiber's fiber rollout sparks job growth in Borgorose, Italy

Open Fiber completed a full‑fiber (FTTH) network in Borgorose, a small municipality in the province of Rieti, as part of Italy's Ultra‑Wide Band plan. The high‑speed broadband enabled automotive services company Fleet Support to open a new operational site in the town. The facility now employs roughly 90 workers, over two‑thirds of whom are women, many of them young professionals who can work locally without moving to larger cities. The company’s founder and president, Gioacchino Costantini, said, "The availability of Open Fiber's fiber optic was the factor that made this investment possible." Beyond the factory, the fiber infrastructure is expected to benefit schools, public administration and help counter depopulation of Italy's interior areas.

The development highlights how digital infrastructure can attract private investment, create jobs and improve quality of life in traditionally underserved rural regions.
