Open Shimano Downhill Competition Returns to Cuenca, Ecuador

The Open Shimano Latin America 2026 downhill series will hold its second valid round in Cuenca, Ecuador on August 8‑9, 2024. The race takes place on the Turi track, following the inaugural event in Cerro Bayo, Argentina, and ahead of the final round in Nevados de Chillán, Chile. Top riders from Ecuador, Chile, Peru, Colombia and Argentina are expected to compete.

Local rider Hugo “Dorito” Barrera will race in the Enduro Pro category, citing his 14‑year experience on the mountain and the advantage of knowing the terrain. He noted the event’s growing prestige and the presence of international competitors. Organizers anticipate hundreds of spectators to line the course, making the Open Shimano a highlight of the Latin American downhill calendar.
