Open Standard launches Open USD stablecoin with major financial backing

Open Standard has officially launched Open USD (OUSD), a dollar-pegged stablecoin designed for international banking, payments, and institutional trading. The project is backed by a consortium of approximately 200 partners, including major financial and technology firms such as Visa, Mastercard, Stripe, and Coinbase.

OUSD is currently available on the Ethereum, Solana, Coinbase Base, and Tempo blockchains, with trading active on platforms including Coinbase, Kraken, and Uniswap. The asset has reached a market valuation of approximately $668 million. The project launched with $1 billion in liquidity, with founding partners receiving initial equity stakes.

Reserves for the stablecoin are managed through BlackRock, Lead Bank, and BNY. The initiative aims to provide a programmable, global infrastructure for businesses to conduct transactions with the same ease as fiat currency, potentially impacting regional markets like Latin America through improved remittance and digital savings capabilities.
