OpenAI aims to develop humanoid robots for home use
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has revealed that the company is developing a humanoid robot, aiming to eventually provide a personal robot for every household. During an interview on the ‘Sources’ podcast, Altman stated that creating a humanoid is a clear goal for the organization.
Altman explained that the decision to pursue a human-shaped design is based on the fact that the physical world is built for human capabilities. He noted that daily tasks—such as opening doors, using computers, or cleaning kitchens—are designed for people, making it logical for robots to adapt to this existing model.
While OpenAI has begun hiring specialists to assist in this development, no specific timeline for a release has been provided. Altman emphasized that developing the artificial intelligence to serve as the robot’s ‘brain’ is a more critical challenge than the physical construction of the body itself.
