OpenAI plans new AI‑powered hardware lineup with Jony Ive

OpenAI CEO Greg Brockman said the company is moving beyond software to develop a family of AI‑enabled smart devices that will run on the ChatGPT platform. The effort is a collaboration with former Apple design chief Jony Ive, and the product range is expected to include a voice‑controlled home hub, a smart speaker and other accessories, though no specific specifications or launch dates have been confirmed.

Brockman emphasized that the devices are intended to provide real‑world value through voice interaction, while also prioritising user privacy and data transparency. The announcement comes amid an ongoing legal dispute with Apple over alleged poaching of staff and intellectual‑property concerns.
