OpenAI builds a unified AI SuperApp while gearing up for a $1 trillion IPO

OpenAI is consolidating its ChatGPT and Codex products into a single desktop application that the company calls a “SuperApp.” The platform aims to let users move seamlessly between conversational assistance, coding, research, document creation, project management and automation within one interface, with shared memory across tasks. Observers note that new ChatGPT capabilities are appearing inside Codex and that the merge signals OpenAI’s shift toward an agentic AI workspace capable of handling end‑to‑end workflows.

At the same time, OpenAI has filed a confidential S‑1 with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, indicating plans for an initial public offering that could value the company at $1 trillion by the end of 2026. The filing follows a recent post‑money valuation of $852 billion. Microsoft, which owns 26.79% of OpenAI, would see its stake rise from roughly $228 billion to about $268 billion if the target valuation is reached, making the IPO a potentially massive financial event for both firms.
