OpenAI hosts developer event in Seoul to showcase AI security and agent tools

OpenAI held the ‘OpenAI DevDay Exchange: Seoul’ in South Korea, gathering hundreds of developers and industry executives to demonstrate new artificial intelligence tools and integrations. During the event, OpenAI introduced Daybreak, an AI-powered defense system designed to identify and remediate security vulnerabilities. This move signals a shift for AI companies, which are increasingly entering the cybersecurity sector to counter hackers who use AI to probe systems for weaknesses.

Other major players are also expanding into security, including Anthropic with Claude Security and Google with Project Fairwind. In South Korea, companies such as Samsung SDS, S2W, SK Telecom, and UpAstage are actively engaging with these technologies or forming security consortia.

OpenAI also presented new capabilities including the AI agent Dots, which operates on the Astra model and can connect with over 4,000 apps. Dots is designed for continuous task execution by running on separate cloud computers. Data from OpenAI Korea indicates that South Korea maintains high engagement levels, ranking third globally for weekly active users of Dots and Codex, and fifth for ChatGPT Pro users.
