OpenAI introduces ChatGPT Computer History feature for Mac

OpenAI has introduced a new feature called ‘Computer History’ for the ChatGPT Mac application. Designed to provide the AI assistant with better work context, the feature allows the assistant to handle vague requests by understanding a user's recent activities, such as emails sent or websites visited.

Unlike Microsoft’s ‘Recall’ feature, which uses screenshots, ChatGPT’s version utilizes macOS accessibility features to read on-screen text and track actions like mouse clicks. This method avoids constant image analysis but still creates text files that record user activity.

Currently, the feature is available only to Pro subscribers or higher and is disabled by default. However, security concerns exist because the data is processed on OpenAI’s servers and the resulting text files could potentially be accessed by other applications or unauthorized individuals on the device.
