OpenAI launches ChatGPT Work agent for autonomous task management

OpenAI introduced ChatGPT Work, an artificial‑intelligence agent that can execute multi‑step tasks without detailed step‑by‑step prompts. Users specify a goal, and the agent accesses connected applications such as Slack, Google Drive, email and calendars to gather context, plan actions, and deliver results. Throughout the process users can monitor progress, ask questions, adjust direction, and approve critical actions before they are carried out.

The rollout has sparked discussion about the growing complexity of ChatGPT as new features—search, voice, image creation, code assistance and autonomous agents—are added. While OpenAI reports hundreds of millions of weekly users worldwide, some users feel the platform has become less intuitive, describing a "feature creep" that can make simple queries feel overloaded.
