OpenAI expands ChatGPT features with Google Drive integration and Mac activity tracking

OpenAI is introducing several major updates to ChatGPT, including deeper integration with Google Drive and a new macOS feature called ‘Computer History’. The Google Drive integration allows paid users to open and edit files directly within the chat interface, modifying the actual files in the cloud rather than working on static copies.

The ‘Computer History’ feature for macOS enables ChatGPT to track user interactions—such as clicks, typing, and app switching—to provide better context for tasks and automate workflows. This feature is available for Pro, Business, and Enterprise subscribers but is currently unavailable in the UK, Switzerland, and the European Economic Area. OpenAI states it does not record screens or audio, using macOS accessibility APIs instead.

In Germany, OpenAI is expanding its footprint by planning a second office in Berlin and exploring the construction of local data centers. Additionally, the company is rolling out advertisements to ChatGPT Free and Go users in Germany, marking an expansion of its ad-supported model into the EU market. Paid tiers like Plus, Pro, and Enterprise will remain ad-free.
