OpenAI launches GPT-Live and expands ChatGPT for Teachers program

OpenAI has introduced several major updates to its ecosystem. The company launched GPT-Live, a native voice AI model for ChatGPT Voice designed with low latency of under 300ms and enhanced emotional intelligence. Additionally, OpenAI expanded its ChatGPT for Teachers program to 55 more school districts across 20 US states, providing secure workspaces to over 100,000 educators and staff free of charge until June 2028.

In terms of web integration, the ChatGPT desktop application now supports WebMCP, an open standard that enables AI agents to perform autonomous tasks on compatible websites, such as making purchases or booking reservations.

Meanwhile, GitHub has rolled out its Global Model Policy for Copilot Business and Enterprise users. This feature allows corporate administrators to centrally manage and restrict the AI models used within their organizations, with open-weight models like DeepSeek and Kimi K2 set to be disabled by default.
