OpenAI reports significant speed increase for Third Moment Research AI agents

OpenAI has released a customer story regarding the North American startup Third Moment Research, which utilizes OpenAI's API and Codex to operate a self-improving AI system. The startup currently operates 10,000 simultaneous agents, with autonomous research sessions lasting between 36 and 48 hours.

A significant performance improvement was noted following a fix found by Codex: a backtest that previously required approximately three hours was reduced to a duration of only three to five minutes. The system is designed to understand agent behavior, identify recurring weaknesses, and utilize thousands of synthetic scenarios to improve performance.
