OpenAI rolls out persistent memory feature for ChatGPT

OpenAI announced a major upgrade to ChatGPT’s memory system. The new architecture lets the chatbot retain user‑provided information across separate conversations, remembering preferences such as dietary choices or topics to avoid. It can also distinguish temporal references, updating details about future plans as time passes. Users of the Plus and Pro subscriptions in the United States receive the feature immediately, with a rollout to free accounts planned in the coming weeks once processing capacity is scaled.

The enhancement includes a summary view of stored memories, allowing users to review, edit, or delete remembered items at any time.
