OpenAI rolls out Sunspot refresh for ChatGPT Android beta
OpenAI has launched the “Sunspot refresh” for the ChatGPT Android beta app, introducing granular personalization features that allow users to manage how the AI retains information.
The update provides two primary controls: a per-chat memory toggle, which enables or disables memory for individual conversations, and a save-to-history option, allowing users to decide if a specific chat is stored in their history.
This development follows a series of memory system evolutions starting in early 2024. Previously, memory controls were applied to the entire account rather than individual interactions. These new granular controls respond to increasing regulatory pressure, particularly in the EU, regarding user data privacy and control.
