OpenAI scales enterprise revenue and secures $122 billion in funding

OpenAI is experiencing significant financial and operational growth, driven by a surge in enterprise demand and massive capital investment. The company recently closed a $122 billion funding round, reaching a post-money valuation of $852 billion. This capital supports the infrastructure and compute necessary to meet rising demand, as monthly revenue has climbed to $2 billion.

CFO Sarah Friar noted that enterprise revenue is on a trajectory to reach parity with consumer revenue by 2026. To capture more of the market, OpenAI has implemented aggressive pricing strategies, such as reducing the price of its Luna model by 80%, which resulted in a tenfold increase in usage.

The company is also expanding into specialized AI applications, including hardware design. OpenAI reported using its own models to develop the Jalapeno chip, which reached the tape-out stage in just nine months. This move highlights a broader strategic focus on providing industry-specific tools for sectors such as finance, life sciences, and chip design.
