OpenAI selects Brazilian institutions for AI research projects
OpenAI has selected two Brazilian institutions to participate in global studies regarding the impact of artificial intelligence on new business and scientific research. The selected organizations are the Instituto de Matemática Pura e Aplicada (IMPA) and the Hospital das Clínicas da Faculdade de Medicina da USP.
IMPA will lead a project titled ‘Building resilient scientific research in the Age of Intelligence’. This initiative aims to analyze the resources, computational capacity, and costs required for research institutions to leverage AI for scientific progress. The project intends to produce a replicable measurement model and a public report on the ‘Right to AI’.
The Hospital das Clínicas da FMUSP will focus on the project ‘People-centered AI clinical infrastructure for public hospitals’. This study seeks to develop a prototype for clinical data infrastructure to organize information within the Unified Health System (SUS), aiming to reduce fragmentation in medical record reviews and improve clinical workflows.
