OpenAI expands Irish presence with 200 new jobs in Dublin

OpenAI has announced plans to create 200 new jobs in Ireland, bringing its total planned hiring for the year to 450 roles. These positions will be based at the company's new Applied AI Lab at its European headquarters in Dublin. The roles include engineers specializing in solutions and privacy, as well as sales and user operations staff. Additionally, OpenAI is expanding its 'OpenAI for Ireland' program and launching a 'Founder Cafe' initiative in partnership with Dogpatch Labs to support 150 high-potential local founders with advanced AI skills.

This investment coincides with Ireland hosting a major International AI Summit in Dublin as part of its EU presidency. The summit is expected to draw 1,500 participants and will address critical issues regarding AI safety, security, and innovation. Taoiseach Micheál Martin noted that OpenAI's expansion serves as a vote of confidence in the Irish economy and its growing technological ecosystem.

In a separate development, the Digital Hub in Dublin has launched a four-month residency program titled 'AI for Communities.' The initiative seeks to develop community-centered models for AI learning and engagement to ensure more inclusive digital transformation.

Meanwhile, in the gaming sector, Krafton has initiated its largest-ever recruitment drive, seeking over 100 'AI Native' interns to bolster its artificial intelligence capabilities across various departments, including research and game development.
