OpenAI to file IPO request within weeks as valuation approaches $1 trillion

OpenAI announced that it expects to file a confidential IPO registration statement as early as the upcoming Friday, working with Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley to target a stock‑market debut in the North‑American autumn. The company’s latest financing round raised $122 billion, lifting its valuation to about $852 billion, and market analysts now project a valuation close to $1 trillion at the time of the offering.

The filing comes after a U.S. jury rejected a lawsuit filed by Elon Musk, a early investor, who argued that OpenAI had abandoned its public‑benefit mission. With the legal hurdle removed, investors view the IPO as less risky. OpenAI also plans to invest more than $1.4 trillion over the next few years in chips, data centers and other infrastructure to sustain its generative‑AI growth. The move adds to the broader race among AI firms, including Anthropic, SpaceX, Amazon and Nvidia, to secure public‑market capital.

Regulatory filings, valuation expectations and the recent court decision are shaping what analysts describe as one of the most anticipated technology IPOs of the year.
