OpenAI transforms ChatGPT into AI‑agent platform for enterprise
OpenAI is preparing its biggest redesign of ChatGPT since the service launched in late 2022. The company plans to turn the chatbot into a broad AI‑agent platform that can perform tasks such as code writing, image generation, file handling and multi‑step workflows, with deeper integration of its Codex tool.
The changes aim to shift more users toward paid OpenAI services and boost the share of enterprise revenue, which already accounts for roughly 40% of total income and is expected to reach about 50% by the end of the year. Updated features will appear in the web and mobile versions of ChatGPT in the coming weeks, offering more proactive suggestions and direct links to partner tools such as Canva and Booking.com. ChatGPT currently serves over 900 million weekly active users and more than 50 million paid subscribers worldwide.
