OpenAI unveils autonomous PC‑controlling AI agent; open‑source “sim” platform enables team deployment

OpenAI announced a new autonomous AI agent, dubbed “ChatGPT Work,” built on its flagship GPT‑5.6 model. The agent can operate a computer’s screen—clicking, typing, moving files—and integrates with tools such as Slack, Microsoft Teams and a desktop “Computer Use” feature for Windows and Mac. A public‑beta web app lets users share work via URLs, and the system is already used by companies like Zappia to auto‑generate dashboards and cut month‑end reporting time from days to hours. The offering is rolling out to Pro, Enterprise, Edu and free‑plan users.

Separately, the open‑source project “sim” provides a team‑focused workspace for building, deploying and managing AI agents. Users can create agents from natural‑language prompts, connect them to over 1,000 services (Slack, Notion, Salesforce, Google tools, etc.), and monitor actions, errors and API costs in real time. Licensed under Apache‑2.0, sim aims to let organizations embed AI agents into everyday workflows while retaining oversight.
