OpenAI's GPT-6 Astra completes Portal playthrough in 24 hours

AI enthusiast CozyBlaze successfully completed a playthrough of Valve’s puzzle game, Portal, using OpenAI’s GPT-6 Astra. The experiment required the AI to navigate complex test chambers that demand spatial reasoning, environmental awareness, and precise movement planning.

To facilitate the gameplay, CozyBlaze implemented a custom setup where the AI received screenshots along with data regarding the character's position and viewing direction. Based on this information, the model determined its next actions. Because the AI required time to process information and decide on moves, the game had to be paused frequently, turning the fast-paced puzzle game into a slow, turn-based experience. The entire process took nearly 24 hours to complete from start to credits.
