Oper im Steinbruch St. Margarethen reports increased attendance for Tosca
The Oper im Steinbruch St. Margarethen has reported increased attendance at the mid-season point of its current production of Giacomo Puccini's "Tosca." The production, featuring an international cast representing 15 nations, has seen higher visitor numbers compared to the same period last year.
Directed by Thaddeus Strassberger, the staging utilizes the unique visual landscape of a former Roman quarry. The production features a musical direction by Valerio Galli and includes performers from countries such as Canada, Italy, China, Norway, Armenia, South Korea, and Hungary. Intendant Daniel Serafin noted that the collaboration of artists from nations currently experiencing political tensions, such as Israel, Lebanon, Ukraine, and Russia, serves as a demonstration of music's ability to connect people across borders.
Performances of "Tosca" are scheduled to continue through August 22.
