Opera launches integrated travel eSIM for Android users

Opera has introduced a native travel eSIM feature directly into its Android web browser, marking a first for the industry. Developed in partnership with Holiday.com, the integration allows users to purchase and manage mobile data plans without installing third-party applications.

To promote the service, Opera is offering a free trial of 3 GB of 5G data, valid for three days upon activation. This promotional offer is currently limited to residents of specific markets, including the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Canada, United Arab Emirates, Brazil, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, and Poland. The activation process requires no credit card or email registration.

The eSIM provides connectivity for the entire smartphone, enabling apps like Google Maps and messaging services to function normally, rather than being restricted to the browser itself. The service covers 47 global destinations. Once the free data is exhausted or the three-day period ends, users can purchase additional data packages of 3 GB, 5 GB, or 10 GB, which are valid for 30 days. The feature requires an eSIM-compatible, carrier-unlocked Android device running version 10 or higher.
