Operation Bluebird launches Twitter. now amid legal battle with X

Operation Bluebird, a Virginia-based startup, has launched a new social media platform called ‘Twitter. now’. The project is led by co-founder Stephen Coates, who previously served as a legal advisor for the original Twitter.

The platform aims to differentiate itself from Elon Musk’s X by focusing on transparency and user control. It features ‘Vera’, an AI-driven fact-checking engine designed to provide context and credibility scores for posts. Users can adjust settings to filter content based on desired levels of reliability.

The launch occurs amidst an ongoing legal battle with X Corp. X has sought an injunction to prevent the use of the ‘Twitter’ name and related branding. However, Operation Bluebird argues that X effectively abandoned these trademarks when it rebranded to X. A Delaware judge has previously expressed a preliminary view that X may have relinquished rights to certain elements like the ‘tweet’ term and the blue bird logo, though a final ruling is pending.

Currently in an early access phase, ‘Twitter. now’ offers a subscription model where users can pay for founder status or contribute to the legal defense against X.
