Port-Gentil hosts free ophthalmological medical caravan

The sixth edition of a free ophthalmological medical caravan has launched at the Ntchengué Regional Hospital in Port-Gentil, Gabon. The initiative aims to combat blindness by providing specialized eye care to populations with limited financial resources.

Organized by the Islamic Fund for Social Action (FIAS) in partnership with the Al-Basar International Foundation, the Ministry of Health, and the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Foundation, the campaign provides screenings, eye exams, and the distribution of reading glasses and eye drops. The program also includes surgical interventions for conditions such as cataracts and glaucoma.

The mission utilizes advanced medical equipment and involves specialists from Sudan to assist local practitioners and Gabonese medical students. This collaboration serves to strengthen local medical expertise through knowledge exchange while addressing urgent clinical needs in the Ogooué-Maritime province.
