Opole exhibition showcases portraits of Polish women living in Belarus

The "BezKresne" exhibition opened on Plac Wolności in Opole, featuring 22 portrait photographs of Polish women residing in Belarus. Curated by photographer Joanna Dzido, the display highlights personal stories of memory, identity and attachment to Polish roots, with each portrait conveying individual emotions and histories. The project was created in collaboration with the Opole Voivodeship government and the City of Opole, and includes the poignant story of Maria Cieszkowska, who left her family home five years ago and now reflects on her heritage through the portrait.

Organizers emphasized that the exhibition is not merely about photography but about the enduring connection to the homeland despite borders and politics, aiming to foster respect for the human experience behind each image.
