Opole Voivodeship plans to launch regional railway company by 2030

The Marshal of the Opole Voivodeship, Szymon Ogłaza, has announced plans to establish a regional railway company by 2030. This move is intended to coincide with the expiration of the current contract with Polregio.

To facilitate this transition, the voivodeship intends to acquire its own rolling stock. The goal is for the regional government to own the vehicles necessary to manage all current rail operations. By creating a dedicated local company, officials aim to gain greater control over passenger services and potentially streamline the procurement process for regional transport.
