Oppdal local politicians face debates over spending and planning

Local political debates in Oppdal are intensifying regarding municipal spending and planning. One significant dispute involves the Gjevilvassdalen ski trail network. Following a Supreme Court ruling, some local politicians and administration members have sought to reopen the case to move ski trails back onto the Gjevilvassveien road. Critics argue that millions of kroner have already been spent on investigations and suggest that a formal legal assessment from an independent expert in expropriation law should have been conducted first to determine if the project meets the legal requirements of being of great public importance.

Separately, the municipal planning process is undergoing adjustments. Following dissatisfaction with administrative proposals, the municipal planning committee has worked to modify regulations to better reflect political guidance, specifically regarding nature preservation, housing reserves, and business development. The updated plan has been sent to the municipal council, with proposals to hold public hearings to ensure local engagement and anchoring.
