OPPO and OnePlus announce transition to ColorOS with Android 17
OPPO and OnePlus have announced significant software transitions centered around the upcoming Android 17 release. OPPO is rolling out ColorOS 17, which focuses on enhanced smoothness and expanded artificial intelligence capabilities, including the ‘AI Mind’ and ‘AI Call Guard’ designed to protect users against deepfakes and fraud.
As part of a broader strategic shift, OnePlus will officially retire its OxygenOS in favor of OPPO’s ColorOS for future Android 17 updates. The company confirmed that existing OnePlus devices will continue to receive software support throughout their intended lifecycles, though the underlying operating system will change.
The global rollout is scheduled to begin in late October. For OPPO, the stable version is expected to debut alongside the Find X10 series in Barcelona. For OnePlus, the update schedule begins on October 29 with the OnePlus 15 and OnePlus Pad 4, followed by various other models through late 2026 and into early 2027.
