Opportunity Party Announces 40‑Candidate List for New Zealand 2026 Election
The Opportunity Party has released a list of 40 candidates for the November 2026 New Zealand election. Party leader Qiulae Wong described the slate as a team of people who have built businesses, shaped public policy and worked with communities, saying New Zealanders deserve better than the current political options.
The list is headed by six candidates with experience in business, agriculture, Māori development and environmental leadership, including deputy leader Daniel Eb, who founded an open‑day farm initiative, and former WWF New Zealand chief executive Dr Kayla Kingdom‑Bebb. National Party leader Christopher Luxon has ruled out any cooperation with the party, while Labour leader Chris Hipkins has not ruled it out but expressed doubt about the party crossing the 5 % threshold required for parliamentary representation. Recent polls show Opportunity hovering just under that threshold, with support ranging from 4.3 % to 5.3 %.
