Opposition leaders criticize Indian government over electoral integrity

During a symbolic public impeachment of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar held at the residence of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, independent Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal accused the Modi government of being a “Dimagi bulldozer” for allegedly undermining the Constitution and voter rights.

Sibal characterized Gyanesh Kumar as a “pawn on a chess board,” suggesting that government ministers are the true culprits behind electoral irregularities. He further alleged that the Chief Election Commissioner has subverted voters lists and criticized the government for labeling the opposition as “Dimagi Naxals.”

In response to these criticisms, BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi labeled Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi a “Dimagi Naxal,” criticizing his use of street protests over parliamentary discussion. Trivedi defended the Election Commission and claimed the government has successfully fulfilled pledges to eradicate Naxalism from regions such as Chhattisgarh.
