Opposition leaders Prince Epenge and Martin Fayulu detained at Kinshasa airport

Opposition figures Prince Epenge and Martin Fayulu were prevented from traveling to Rome from Kinshasa’s N’djili International Airport on Sunday. The two leaders, members of the Lamuka platform, were scheduled to join other opposition members for a meeting in Italy.

According to reports from the Fayulu camp, the Direction générale de migration (DGM) confiscated their passports. While Martin Fayulu’s passport was eventually returned, allowing him to depart, Prince Epenge was reportedly detained. His camp attributes the interception to the National Cyber Defense Council (CNC) and states he was prevented from boarding due to a judicial summons related to the Manassé Lomboto case.

Epenge’s supporters have expressed serious concerns regarding his safety and health, noting that he was taken without access to essential daily medication. As of the latest reports, official confirmation regarding the exact circumstances of his detention or his current location has not been provided.
