Slovak opposition parties unite in Bratislava protest against Fico government

Thousands of protesters gathered at SNP Square in Bratislava to demonstrate against the government of Robert Fico. The event was notable for the unprecedented appearance of representatives from five major opposition parties on a single stage: SaS, Progressive Slovakia, KDH, Hnutie Slovensko, and Democrats.

Speakers at the rally, including Trenčín Mayor Richard Rybníček, called for the opposition to present a unified democratic alternative and a clear plan for state recovery. Rybníček urged political leaders to agree on a shadow government to provide stability and address economic concerns, such as unsustainable debt and the quality of public services.

Participants chanted slogans including ‘Enough of Fico’ and ‘Russians home,’ expressing dissatisfaction with the current administration's direction. The gathering served as a precursor to larger planned demonstrations intended to showcase political cooperation despite previous internal tensions among opposition groups.
