Opposition parties in Piauí declare support for Flávio Bolsonaro

Political parties in the Brazilian state of Piauí, including the PSDB, PL, Podemos, and Democracia Cristã, have announced a unified front to support Flávio Bolsonaro in the second round of the 2026 presidential election.

Following meetings in Teresina, leaders from these organizations aim to consolidate opposition strength. Jorge Lopes, state president of the PSDB, stated the decision seeks to rescue the party's legacy and unify forces after what he described as a first round that showed a lack of political balance in the state's interior.

Tiago Junqueira, state president of the PL, emphasized that the alliance is part of a broader effort to mobilize voters by addressing local concerns such as taxes, water shortages, and crime. He also addressed rumors regarding social programs, asserting that the Bolsonaro administration previously increased Bolsa Família benefits.
