Oprah Winfrey calls launching OWN network her biggest career mistake

Oprah Winfrey reflected on a recent podcast appearance, recalling her 1999 single “Run On,” which introduced the 13th season of The Oprah Winfrey Show. She admitted that singing was never her talent and that at the time she was torn between continuing her long‑running talk show and pursuing new business ventures.

Winfrey said the decision she now regrets most is launching her own television network, OWN, simultaneously with ending The Oprah Winfrey Show in 2011. She explained, “I wouldn’t restart my own network and would have ended the show at the same time. That’s the only thing I truly wish I’d done differently.” Today she says she enjoys simple pleasures such as rainy days, a good book, and her dog.
