Optimizely launches AI Virtual Teammates for marketing teams

Optimizely has introduced ‘Virtual Teammates’, a suite of role-specific AI agents designed to function as digital coworkers within marketing teams. Unveiled at the Opticon event, these agents are built to handle recurring tasks, maintain organizational context, and operate across various marketing tools without requiring constant prompting for every individual action.

The initial rollout includes several specialized roles: Chief of Staff, SEO & AI Search Analyst, Marketing Analyst, Personalization Strategist, and CRO Manager. These agents can be assigned specific responsibilities, follow set schedules, and participate in ongoing workflows. For example, a Chief of Staff can monitor competitive intelligence and prepare meeting briefings, while an SEO analyst can continuously monitor search visibility.

CEO Alex Atzberger noted that the technology aims to reduce the friction of switching between disconnected AI tools. The system allows users to customize agent responsibilities using plain language and connect them to the necessary systems to complete their assigned work.
