Optimus Prime vessel joins search for maritime disaster victims near Girne

Prime Minister Ünal Üstel and Deputy Prime Minister Fikri Ataoğlu have inspected search operations following a maritime disaster off the coast of Girne. The search efforts aim to locate missing persons within a shipwreck site.

Specialized vessels, including the TCG Alemdar and TCG Işın from the Turkish Navy, have been conducting underwater searches under difficult conditions. To enhance these efforts, the highly specialized research vessel Optimus Prime arrived from Turkey to assist in the operation.

The Optimus Prime is described as a world-class research and inspection ship capable of maintaining precise positions in open seas and utilizing remotely operated underwater vehicles. Its advanced technical equipment is expected to allow investigators to reach previously inaccessible parts of the wreckage and conduct detailed inspections of the interior sections.
