OptQC receives investment from Nissay Capital for photonic quantum computing
Nissay Capital has invested in OptQC, a Tokyo-based deep tech startup, as part of its Sustainability Solutions Fund No. 1. The investment is part of OptQC’s Series A funding round.
OptQC, which originated from research at the University of Tokyo, specializes in photonic quantum computing. Unlike many existing quantum computing approaches that require extreme cooling and complex control systems, OptQC’s technology aims to operate at room temperature and normal pressure. This architecture is designed to reduce energy consumption and engineering complexity, potentially facilitating easier scaling and practical application.
The company has already begun social implementation, having delivered its first machine to the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) in Japan and collaborating with major corporations. The technology is expected to have applications in logistics optimization, the development of new materials and energy resources to reduce CO2 emissions, and accelerated drug discovery.
