Oracle customers advised to leverage fiscal year end for negotiations
Consultancy firm ProLicense advises Oracle customers to align license negotiations, support contract renewals, and Unlimited License Agreement (ULA) decisions with Oracle’s fiscal year end on May 31.
According to ProLicense, the weeks preceding the end of the fiscal year offer the most significant leverage for negotiating prices and contract terms. This is due to sales teams working toward annual quotas and the availability of internal approval chains for favorable conditions that may not be accessible in June or July.
Negotiation opportunities extend beyond simple license discounts to include support position cancellations, fixed conditions for future purchases, and payment terms. Notably, because Oracle calculates annual support at 22% of the net license price, securing a license discount also provides a permanent reduction in the support cost base.
