Central American nations advance AI strategies in education and infrastructure
Central American nations are advancing distinct artificial intelligence strategies focused on education and infrastructure. In Costa Rica, the I Regional Congress of Educational Quality and Artificial Intelligence is scheduled for October 7–9, 2026, in San José. Organized by Grupo KOB and Universidad Fidélitas, the event aims to address the integration of digital tools in classrooms and the legal challenges regarding data privacy and intellectual property.
Meanwhile, El Salvador is expanding its AI strategy to include robotics, data-center engineering, and energy infrastructure. Stacy Herbert, a senior AI policy advisor, noted that the National Artificial Intelligence Agency (ANIA) is incorporating specialists in edge robotics and power-grid engineering. The Salvadoran government has also established a regulatory framework to designate specific AI and robotics projects as national priorities.
